Conversion methodology
Baking conversion standards
Easy Baking Converter uses ingredient-specific densities and lets you choose the cup size.
Cup sizes
| Cup type | Volume | Use case |
|---|---|---|
| US cup | 240ml | Common in American recipes |
| Metric cup | 250ml | Common in metric recipe books |
| Australian / South African cup | 250ml | Common in AU and SA recipes |
| Imperial cup | 284ml | Older UK-style references |
Flour method
Flour conversions use spoon-and-level unless otherwise noted. Scooping directly from the bag can pack more flour into the cup and create heavier, drier bakes.
Why sources differ
Baking sources may use different ingredient weights because of cup size, brand, packing, sifting and measuring method. The converter shows practical home-baking values and should be checked against the original recipe when precision matters.
